You bet we’ll be out trick or treating!
Checked Sam out of school a bit early and hit the road for camping and riding bikes in Gooseberry Mesa for the weekend.
We took so many pictures because it was just so beautiful out there.
Epic sunsets and sunrises. The view of Zion NP from camp was TWO THUMBS UP!
Started raining a bit as it was getting dark. We lasted about an hour then had to head to the tent.
Went to bed about 9pm, woke for a pretty sunrise.
Bacon! Camping tip: cook bacon the night before you go, put into zip lock and eat out of the cooler. It’s delicious!
Zion NP looking pretty Saturday morning. Rode a 4 mile loop near camp in the morning. Was full of up and and downhills which were fairly techy for a six year old. He did SO great though. “Dad, this is the funnest uphill- downhill trail ever!” I was smiling the entire ride, taking in how awesome it is that we get to do this stuff together now. I remember talking about this exact stuff when he was growing in my belly.
That bright red flower!
Back to camp for lunch and resting then onto a sweet downhill ride for the afternoon. Dan dropped us off at the top of Deadringer, which was about 30 mins from camp. We rode seven miles of super fun, mostly downhill trail. The last part being right next to the Virgin River. Epic!
Back to camp after a solid day of riding for this boy! All day we just kept commenting on how awesome he did. Very little complaining and tons of big smiles and laughs.
One of the best sunrises I’ve seen in the desert. 7:30am Sunday.
Enjoyed our morning at camp and got in one more ride before we left. Rode the dirt road out to the edge of the Gooseberry Mesa. Six miles (total) and this was the view we got. 110% worth it! He didn’t love the rain on the way back, but he did great between his two little meltdowns. Sometimes Skittles candy saves the day 😉

Can’t wait to go back here again and explore some more. Sam even showed me the old Red Bull Rampage site down in the town of Virgin. He was SO stoked to show me where all these riders he loves show off their tricks every year, and where he and River camped back in the spring.
